In fall of 1967, we began as Valencia Junior College in a few portable buildings on 奥兰多的西橡树岭路. Although the facilities weren't lofty, our goal was to help our students become as successful as possible in their classes, their careers 他们的生活. In 2000, Valencia was recognized for the effectiveness of our student-first philosophy when we were selected by the League for Innovation in the Community College as one 12个国际 先锋学习学院.

In an ongoing effort to be responsive to the community, 澳门金沙注册 has always built relationships with K-12 school districts, universities 和 corporate partners to strengthen academic scholarship 和 economic development.

In 2008, 澳门金沙注册, in partnership with Orange County Public 学校, began administering Horizon Scholars Program of Orange County, a program that provides mentoring 和 college scholarships to promising middle school students from low-income backgrounds.

In 2009, we partnered with Northrop Grumman Laser Systems 和 Orange County Public 学校 to create the Photonics Academy at Wekiva High School 和 in 2010, we began administering a training program for the Transportation Security 政府 (TSA) at the Orl和o International Airport. Valencia has hundreds of additional corporate education/training partnerships, including those with Lockheed Martin, CNL, Darden, Universal Studios®, Sysco 和 Bright House Networks.

2011: Big Changes 和 识别

In July 2011, we dropped the “community” from our name 和 became 澳门金沙注册. 同年，我们开始提供 学士学位 for the first time with the launch of two new programs: Radiologic 和 Imaging Sciences, 和 Electrical 和 Computer Engineering Technology.

By the end of 2011, 澳门金沙注册 was named the inaugural winner of the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence as “the best community college in the nation.” 的 prize was based on measurable achievements in graduation rates, workforce placement 和 innovative programs.

Recognized as one of the best community colleges in the United States, 澳门金沙注册 is also one of the largest – serving more than 60,000 students each year.

In an effort to continue to meet the dem和s of a growing population, 澳门金沙注册 打开了 诺娜湖校区 in east Orl和o in August 2012, built the 凤凰木的校园 并于2017年开业 市区的校园与UCF共用一个校园.
